adult education / GED

The Family Support Center’s Adult Education Program is committed to helping individuals achieve their academic goals. The Program seeks to provide educational services to individuals who have not earned a High School Diploma or equivalency, are looking for employment, or are seeking to advance in their career. Program goals focus on helping individuals obtain a GED, obtain and retain employment, enter Post Secondary or Higher Educational Institutions and/or improve literacy skills.


Adult Education Program includes:

  • Adult Basic Education
  • GED - General Education Development 
  • HSDO - High School Diploma Option
  • EL Civics and ESL - English as a Second Language for Non-English speakers
  • ASVAB Tutoring
  • WorkKeys testing and preparation - National Career Readiness Certificate
  • Digital Literacy / Computer Classes (Microsoft Word and Excel Certificates)
  • Pathways - College / Career Connection
  • Employment Assistance
  • Certification Programs


To Enroll: An individual must be at least 17 years old and not currently enrolled in a K-12 school. Students under the age of 18 must have a written withdrawal from the last school attended, an Exit Interview form as well as a notarized letter from a parent / Legal Guardian stating permission to enroll in the Adult Ed Classes. Students must register at the main FSC site at 113 W. Main St. and provide an Alabama Photo ID and Social Security Card.

In the event of severe weather the Family Support Center's Adult Education program will follow along with the decisions made by the Autauga County Board of Education as to whether classes will be closed or not.  Your safety is of our upmost importance, please do not risk your safety to make it to class.
